August Axiom

Axiom means a maxim widely accepted on its intrinsic merit. That sounds about right for this month of merits.

With the Festival of the Opera Season going on full swing I finished up ushering for Music Man, Priates of Penneze, Hunchback of Notre Dame. While I was ushering for Hunchback of Notre Dame I was able to shake hands and visit with Elder Quention L. Cook, an apostle for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was sitting in the area that I was ushering in. He and his wife grew up in the Logan area. What a humble, kind man.

I also ushered for the Pianists, Madame Butterfuly, and AFC's Verdi Requim (Dale didn't join them in preforming at this concert, he opted out on it). Probably my favorite was Hunchback of Notre Dame first and then Pirates of Penneze.

Danica came up and we picked up Andrew and Lindsay and headed to Richmond, UT to Cherry Peak Ski Resort. We enjoyed a beautiful summer evening in the mountains listening to Scotty McCready, a country singer and past winner of American Idol. It was a great feel good concert. We all had fun soaking it in.

Dale and I cashed in on our birthday gift from the kids and went to Odgen and did the IFLY experience. It was SO cool!! It's a simulator that gives you the feeling you'd get when you jump out of an airplane and sky dive.. I loved flying around and feeling so light and carefree. SO fun! Thanks guys for a great gift. I don't think we would of ever done that without the push.

We also hooked up the trailer and pulled it over the mountain to Blue Water at Bear Lake.
We had a nice relaxing time. Dale got in some great fishing. He caught some nice ones too. All put a big smile on his face (especially the one in the swimsuit).

We also drove up to the Bloomington Lake area and then hiked into the lake. It's such a pretty area. There were quite a few people there jumping off the rocks, doing the rope swing, and playing in the water. We were fine to just watch from the shore, the water was still too cold for us to be playing in.

The Mallory's spent some time at the lake with us and then they met up with Matt's family for a family reunion at Bear Lake. Matt and Jaxson slept a night with us so Dale could take them fishing. It paid off, they caught some pretty decent fish!

We hooked up with the group for dinner at famous Zip's where the food is great and the atmosphere is even better!

Dale's niece, Becca Hansen, got married in the Ogden, UT Temple. Dale and I went to their sealing. It is a beautiful temple and they make a cute couple. I wish them the best on their eternal journey.

We met up with the Mallory's and did some sealings in the temple after and then met up with Danica and Jason for dinner. Dale and I went to his brother Craig's house for the ring ceremony for Becca and Kenny. They fixed up their backyard all nice and it was a nice evening. I helped in the kitchen during the reception.  It was great to see and be with extended family members.

Matt got a new job with the Cache County School District as a school counselor at Cedar Ridge Elementary in Hyde Park, and at Heritage Elementary in Nibley, UT. They moved in with us and the house is a buzz with excitement. It's a good thing we have the upper garage for storage, cuz it's pretty packed! They're selling their house and will be looking for one here in Cache Valley.

For an early birthday gift Dale and I took Kennlyn to see Four Season's Production of Hello Dolly at the Sky View auditorium. We all loved it. Kennlyn even got to have her picture taken with Dolly after the show.

We all got to experience a rare occasion here in Utah. We were able to witness an eclipse (we weren't where we could see it 100%, but we got to see it at 97%) We got the eclipse glasses so we could look at the moon move over the sun. It was a bit erie because it got shady and a lot cooler for a bit. Those that were able to see the full eclipse said it did go dark for a bit. The next full eclipse is going to happen in 15 or so years. Pretty neat that we got to see this.

Nate sent us this picture he took in Seattle form what he saw of the eclipse.

Dale's office all got in the spirit too!

School started for the kids. What fun it was to feel the excitement, and anxiety of the kids going to a new school. New beginnings all around for the Mallory's with their move. This will be the first year that Cedar Ridge will serve as an elementary school as well.

Kennlyn 3rd grade and Jaxson 6th grade

Titan had a change this year because of moving from Kindergarten to 1st grade. He goes to school for a full day now and gets to have school lunch. He was a bit nervous, but he's adjusting.

Dale's graduating class of 1977 from Sky View High School had their 40th class year reunion at the Riverwoods here in Logan. They didn't have a huge turnout, but those there enjoyed an evening of visiting and reliving great memories.

Kennlyn celebrated her birthday by going to the Young Living Aquarium and out to dinner. They also celebrated with friends from the valley and family and friends in Oakley.

I helped out the North Logan Library by going to Jenson's Books and sorting through BIG boxes to get books they were willing to donate to the Friends of the North Logan Library for an upcoming book sale to benefit the library. I also started doing DIBELS testing again. I work with some pretty neat ladies.

Nate is still alive at 35 and made it through another year! With all of his running, climbing, biking, and back country skiing, I'm always grateful  to know he's alive and well.

This was taken after he ran 20 miles around the Salmon La Sac area.  He needed to cool off. What a guy, right? Here's to 35 more Nate! Happy Birthday!

He is in his practice and seeing patients. Still working close with his partner to learn the ropes more, but things are looking good so far.

Since the Mallory's have moved in with us, Grandpa has made time to take the kids fishing (Matt's even getting the bug). They've reconnected with friends here by hosting BBQ's or just hanging out with them. It's also been good having the kids close to cousins. They've been able to go swimming with Andrew & Lindsay at their pool, and when they aren't at the pool, they float the canal near our house. BURR!

Langston got to go get a sneak peak at his new Preschool. Amie's going to be working at Sports Academy with their Preschool program  twice a week, so he's going to go there. Fun times!

Amie and I hosted a fun Bridal Shower for Danica at our house. We served taco salads and had desserts and played the "Pre-Newlywed Game" with Jason via Face Time. Whenever Danica got an answer wrong she got smeared with shaving cream. In the end I think they all had a fun time.

Andrew got out in the hills with his buddy and did some mountain biking. He ended up coming home with a pretty good scrape though. He went over a jump and landed wrong and the bike went out from under him. Good thing he was wearing a bike helmet. OUCH!!

Andrew and Lindsay took the kids to the Cache Country Fair to see the animals and of course to catch a ride or two before he headed back east for work. Eloise loved the Merry-Go-Round.

Their "almost twins" (5 months apart) are growing. Nora's probably double the size of Arwyn though.

Speaking of doubling sizes...Luke is getting pretty big too!! We sure love the joy these little ones add to the family.

Jorie is a good sister to her "big" little brother and she loves her stuffed animals.

Garrett's living his dream.....he has a job that gets him out of the office and onto the golf course at times to add variety to his day. Somebody's got to sponsor the hole,
right?

Our garden's producing and we can't keep up with it so I've been setting buckets out for anyone to take what they want. I post on Facebook what I have and it's been a good way to not have much waste. Caring is Sharing  <3

The Mallory's came across this sign and thought it was a great way to represent the family---Kimberly Hansen---you are famous!! Not everyone has a two cities using your first and last name.  Intrinsic merit for sure!!
