Dale manned a grill for the District's annual School's Out Social at Willow Park, so Andrew, Lindsay and the kids joined me for a hamburger meal with a band playing some great music in the background. Then the kids got to play on some inflatable toys and slides. Dale came home smelling like the grill, and hot, but we all had a good time. The CCSD knows how to party.
Dale and I went to the baby blessing of Max Wilson, son of Lee and Emilie Wilson (Dale's niece). We got to visit with family after and had a nice Sunday. Max is the only boy in his family, other than Lee, so he'll have to hold tough. He's pretty cute though.
Dale and I met Andrew, Lindsay and the kids at the Federal Courthouse in Logan for the finalization hearing for Nora's adoption. The kids were all dressed up and looked so cute. It was neat to see how it all played out. Andrew and Lindsay both had to share their feelings about adoption. Andrew said that at first he wondered if he'd be able to love a child that wasn't born into the family the same as his other kids, but when they got Nora it wasn't any different. He loves her just the same and she's been a joy to have in their home. Lindsay said that the moment Nora was handed to her she felt a bond. She has loved having Nora in their home. Nora has brought such a sweet spirit in their home. Come to find out, Judge Brian Crandall, was adopted and he shared his feelings about being on the other side of adoption. It was just really neat. Nora's paternal great-grandma, Leslie Byers, was there as well. She's been so good to help out with the kids as needed and she sends meals over and buys diapers. It was because of her that Andrew and Lindsay got Nora. They were neighbors for awhile and Leslie just adorns Andrew and Lindsay. So, it's official, Nora's a true Hansen!! Welcome to the tribe!!
We went out to dinner at Firehouse to celebrate later that night with the Byers, Andrew, Lindsay and the kids.
My nephew, Brian Petersen, lost his wife after a battle with cancer at the young age of 43. Krecia Banham Petersen was a beautiful lady and had such a fun personality. I was glad that I was able to attend the viewing and visit with the family. Brian has some great kids and it will be hard, but Krecia will be pushing him on the other side. My heart goes out to them. Love and hugs to them all.
Andrew and Lindsay had Nora sealed to them in the Logan Temple and then blessed both Nora and Arwyn before the family celebration dinner they hosted at their housing areas clubhouse. I was able to have Amie help me in the Youth Center at the temple and we watched Nora, Arwyn, Titan and Eloise and then took them into the sealing room. All the kids did great and Titan and Eloise were so cute with their little sisters. I knelt at the alter with Nora for the sealing and she just looked around all big eyed. Titan loved the fact that he could be with his family forever. That little guy was touched, you could tell. It was a great day.
Andrew and Lindsay celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary the next day. What a great ride they've had. The best is yet to come for them. Here's to another 7 years for them.
Dale's nephew, Jonathan Potter, and his wife, Brianne, reserved the Bear River Bottoms water slide area out in Wellsville, UT and pulled those that could get together for a much needed Hansen Reunion. We had the Mallory's, Andrew's clan, Garrett's clan, and Danica and Jason there from our family. We missed quite a few from the extended family, but we had fun. We went down the slides, played Spike Ball, and Volleyball. We ate, and we visited. Thanks Jonathan and Brianne for pulling this together. Fun times, fun memories were made.
Dale and I loaded up the trailer and headed over the mountain to spend a night at Blue Water by Bear Lake. We sold our triple kayak and got two single kayaks (I gave one to Dale for Father's Day and we bought another one) so we had to test them out. The lake wasn't crowded and the weather was perfect.
We also took the Razor and went on a ride around the area and then on a trail ride. There was A LOT of water on the trail which made it VERY scary at times. We about rolled it a couple of times. SCARY!! Definitely a white knuckle ride at times. Dale's driving skills are amazing.
We took a drive around the lake and their was a fire that started on the hillside behind the East beach area from some sparks from a flat tire on a trailer. We stopped and checked it out. It was interesting to see how they used a boat with hoses to get the water. The poor firefighters were walking in shale rock, wearing their gear, and hauling heavy hoses. Wow, what a work-out!! They managed to get the fire contained and out within 2 1\2 hours. Impressive.
We headed back so Dale could be to a practice with the AFC choir. They had a performance at USU on the Quad with the USU Alumni Band.
Nate decided to cool down by doing some mountaineering skiing around the Mt. Baker wilderness area before the snow melts.
The views are worth all the hard work. Beautiful! Just think of the thrill of going down!! Crazy!!
He also wanted to summit Mt. Rainer. They stayed in a climbers hut for the night to get an early start, but they got to Camp Muir and realized that the avalanche risk was too high, so they did the responsible thing and decided to wait for another day. What a bummer, but I'm glad they played it safe. You just never know what the mountain will do sometimes.
Nate also finished his residency with the Puget Sound VA Hospital, another VA hospital in Tacoma, and a clinic. He's official now, Dr. Nathan Dale Hansen...WOW! He's looking to hook up with a Dr. in Mill Creek, WA. He's going to be sharing a building with an established Dr. and they'll cover for each other as needed. He's got a month off before he digs into being a real Doctor, with a real practice of his own. Way to go Nate!

Amie's husband, Matt, accepted a new job offer. He'll be working for the Cache County School District as a counselor for two elementary schools. We're kind of excited to have them moving our way. The house is up for sale so they're hunting for houses.
The kids started swimming lessons as well. Jaxson and Kennlyn are on a competitive swim team. We wish them the best.
Then the family went camping at the City of Rocks for the Mallory Family Reunion. They're making rock solid memories. (get it? lol)
Andrew got home from working back east and started working on getting a bedroom done for Nora. He's becoming quite the carpenter.
When Lindsay's family was together, because of Nora's sealing and the babies blessings, Andrew and Titan hiked the Crimson trail with Lindsay's brother-in-law and kids. Way to get out and enjoy Mother Natures wonders Andrew and Titan!
Titan went and stayed over at his cousins for some fun and ended up cutting his leg when he fell on the escalator at the mall. It looked pretty deep but Andrew and Lindsay just put a butterfly bandage on it and then used some super glue to hold it together instead of getting stitches and it worked! His leg looks pretty good too. (A lot better than it did earlier) Poor guy.
Garrett and Zandra took a little trip to Manti to witness a sealing of a friend of theirs. Luke's first long car ride and he did alright.
Garrett's been staying busy with his job. The way the market is now people are selling and buying. That makes for good business for him.
They also had Danica take some pictures of their family so that we could get one with all of the family. Thanks for sharing. We'll claim you as ours.
Danica and Jason set a wedding date. September 15, 2017 is going to be the big day. That's also my mom's birthday so that makes it even more special for them.
The future Mr. & Mrs. Hassell found a venue as well. It's at Bear Hollow Lakes near Garland, UT. A beautiful and fun outdoor area about 30 min. away from Logan. Things are looking up and now the work begins in the critical planning. She's liking the idea of being Danica Hassell.
They went to the Nitro Circus Games at the U of U's Rice Eccles Stadium for some together time.
Pretty cool stuff.
This month has been wet and then hot, hence misquotes, bugs and spiders abound. I was outside for a bit and ended up getting bit by some bug. Don't you love how it looks kind of like a constellation?
I'll tell you it itched like the dickens though. Why is it that the bugs like me? I'm just too sweet I guess. Bummer!
Well, that's where it's at for this month. I have a feeling this summer is going to fly by. I hope I can hang on!!
