August Assured

It's Family Reunion Time!!! Getting the whole family together was quite an accomplishment..........

Andrew and Lindsay planned our reunion this year and they did a great job!
Day 1:  We kicked it off by going to the Cache County Fair. We checked out the machinery, animals, and even saw prancing horses and   elephants!

A little 4-H memory for Andrew and Danica from when they showed sheep at the fair.

We came to our house and had a tasty Dutch Oven dinner and played sand volleyball. It was great having the family buzz going on in the yard again.

Day 2:  Nate and Kim showed up, we packed up our bags and the trailer, and headed over the hill to Bear Lake. We stayed at Blue Water Resort where we had a condo with a place for the trailer right by it. It was perfect.

Nate, Kim and Danica did a little rock climbing before heading over to the lake.

We all got settled in and celebrated Nate's 33rd birthday by having a copy cat Cafe Rio sweet pork dinner. I forgot the candles so we used a thumb. (It worked in a pinch)

Then we headed over to Laketown to go to the famous Raspberry Days Rodeo.

Jaxson and Kennlyn got to participate in the catch a chicken run, catch a calf run, and catch a pig run. They came out winners by having fun in the dirt but not making the catch.

We had a great time, but then it started to rain a little, then we heard thunder and saw some lightning.......we stayed strong though.

Some in the group left after it didn't let up. Then it started to really rain!! The Mallorys, Danica,Dale and I stayed till the rodeo was about 3/4 the way done, but we were soaked so we left. Memories were made in the rain.

We went back to the condo and played games. Luckily the big family room had a fireplace that warmed us up.

Day 3:  Dale and Jaxson got up early and went fishing at their special spot in Laketown. The pond didn't disappoint! Jaxson came back with a fish! I think Grandpa has a new fishing buddy.

Garrett and Zandra showed up sporting a new car. With an addition to the family coming they felt they needed a more reliable car and more room.

The sun came out and it warmed up some so we rented some Wave runners and got the kayaks out and played on the beach and lounged around most the day.

Lindsay had crafts for the kids to do and we played more games and ate more yummy food.

We even got in a group picture, but Matt, Amie and Langston had left so we didn't get them in it :(

The guys took out the Razor and 4-wheelers and got dirty and the gals checked out downtown Garden City's Craft Fair or lounged around.

We went to a Boat light parade and watched fireworks on the beach as part of the Raspberry Days celebration, then we shot off light up rockets with the kids on the beach.

Of course, we ended by staying up way too late playing games. (We are a gaming family)

Day 4:  Nate and Kim left after we had breakfast and a rousing game of sand volleyball. It was good having them join us and catching up.

We took advantage of some more time in the sun on the beach and on the Razor, more games and then headed home after lunch.

Thanks Andrew and Lindsay for a fun time. We're looking forward to when we can get together again. Family time is a fun time ;)

We brought Jaxson and Kennlyn home with us after the reunion and so they joined Aunt Vonda and I for a afternoon outing. We met up with Danica and went to lunch and visited. Aunt Vonda's still doing great for being 95 years young.
It was Danica's last day of working at Conservice. She's going to be going to Dixie Stake University.

The garden's been producing enough green beans for me to bottle all I needed and then share with family and neighbors. We've also been able to enjoy fresh salsa with homegrown tomatoes! Homemade doesn't even compare to the real deal!

Amie and Langston joined up with us and we helped get Danica packed up and ready to roll. We loaded up the Tahoe and headed South to take her to St. George, UT. She'll be red-shirting with the soccer team and going to Dixie State University, majoring in Graphic Design.

We got her settled in and were able to play a little as well.
She's excited and ready for this next step in her journey of life.

I was glad for the company and Amie and the kids benefited as well because we hit the outlets and they got some school shopping done.

We visited the St. George Zoo (Petsmart) and the kids even got to hold a live lobster at Red Lobster.

It was a win, win situation for all.  Saying good-bye was a little easier knowing she's close enough that we can make a visit easier.

She's fitting right in with the girls on the team and honing her foot skills so she'll be in top condition for next season.

Nate checked another item off of his bucket list by biking across the state of Washington. Riding 350 miles, starting st the USA-Canada boarder, riding along the coast of Washington and ending in Astoria, Oregon. He went with his friend, Jeremy Koons. Besides a flat tire on the car when heading to the starting point, and Nate having to buy a new tire because of broken spokes, they had a good trip. It took them 5 days, but they did it and can still walk. Way to go guys!

Amie and Matt found out that they'll be adding another boy to the family.

Kennlyn said, "that just makes her more special" and I couldn't agree more.

We took Lindsay and the kids and went to Oakley to celebrate Kennlyn's birthday a few days early with the family. She got a fish for her birthday and her cake was a fish. They also had a bounce house for the kids to play in. It was a fun day.

Kennlyn turned 7 on the day that school started. Kennlyn's in 1st grade and Jaxson's in 4th grade.

For a family pack mtg. for Scouts they had the kids make cars out of boxes and had a drive-in movie night. Langston loved driving his car.

Andrew spent most of the month in Dayton, OH and Southern Mississippi. He's flying and cutting, but still in training. He's also realizing that he's got to get his neck muscles built up with his job. He's sore!!

Garrett and Zandra went to Bellingham, WA to attend a baby shower that her friends threw for her. It was a quick trip, but they were glad to see friends and family.

Zandra got a new job and has been training for Jet Blue Reservations. She'll be able to work from home after she gets done with her 4 week training course. She'll also have the benefits of flying free. Gotta love the perks that come with some jobs.

Before heading south, Danica spent some time hiking in our beautiful mountains. She hiked the Crimson Trail and the Wind Caves trail. She'll miss our mountains and cooler temperatures, but she'll be climbing other mountains and it's all good.

In fact, life with the Hansen's this month was pretty good.
