Outstanding October

Talk about outstanding---we had three birthdays this month! Danica, Mom/Grandma Hansen, and Jorie all celebrated their birthdays in their own unique way.

To start out the month, Danica threw a BIG Harry Potter themed birthday party. We were at Bear Lake because we had committed to a weekend with friends before we'd gotten the invite, so we missed out big!! Looked like quite the party. We'll save the date for next year for sure. I was glad that Garrett, Zandra, Matt, and Amie were able to represent our side of the family. Happy Birthday Danica!!

Dale's mom, my mother-in-law, our kids Grandma, and our grandkids' Great-grandma Hansen, VerNae celebrated a heavenly Happy Birthday with her hubby, so... Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom and Grandma!!

Our number 6 grandchild, Jorie, celebrated her 7th birthday also. For her birthday date we took her out to eat at Pizza Pie Cafe and then we went to Build - A - Bear and she picked out a dog. She named it Ghost due to it being close to Halloween. We love our Super Girl Jorie! Happy Birthday!

As I mentioned earlier, as Danica was celebrating with family and friends for her birthday, Dale and I were spending time at Bear Lake. We had our friends, Kathy and Mike Bullen join us for a bit as well. With the fall leaves and the blue water, the walks at the mouth of the canyon and along the empty beach, Dale getting in some grouse hunting and listening to General Conference while in the trailer, it made for a great last hurrah stay until we get back next year.

We hosted an Open House for Nate and Diana to let our family and the local extended family, along with some close friends of Nate's meet the now married couple. Most of the family had never met Diana so she wanted to meet the crew. We had a nice turn-out and it was good to see family and friends. Congratulations to the Mr. & Mrs.!! We got the WHOLE family together!! We had a catered Costa Vida dinner after the Open House and visited and played games for an official welcome to Diana as part of our crew!

I did some witching at the North Logan Pumpkin Walk a couple of times. Once in the daytime so that I could be there when Mazin, Nora, and Arwyn's Kindergarten classes came through, and one in the evening. Both times I had people that didn't recognize me. Mission accomplished.

I ushered at the Eccles Theater for Pickleville's Laugh Fest, went to the temple with our Relief Society and did an endowment session and went to lunch after. Then went with Dale and did sealings and went to dinner after. I also served in the Youth Center and watched a 7, 3, & 1 yr. old be sealed to their parents. Pretty touching.

Dale and I joined up with Andrew's family and some friends during Fall Break with the schools and pulled our trailers north to Lava Hot Springs. It was pretty good weather during the day, but pretty chilly at night, but we had fun swimming and soaking in the pools, checking out the town and playing games. It was wonderful time spent with great company.

We finished up the month by going to our Ward Halloween Party as well as hosting a Halloween party for the kids here. We got some snow and the temperature dropped earlier in the week so to be safe, we converted the garage into our activity spot instead of relying on the weather and we're glad we did! With portable heaters set up in the garage it worked perfect for our party.
Garrett and Zandra arrived early so that we could do Jorie's birthday date and then they helped us set up the garage. We had food that had a Halloween theme to it, tried to eat donuts on a string, played Halloween charades, and twister, made some edible spiders and decorated cupcakes to look like monster faces while the big guy's carved pumpkins. Then we went outside and broke a skeleton face pinata. It was fun for all.

Nate and Diana did some sailing on the sailboat around Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. They also got in some rock climbing on Mount Stuart.

It was this month a year ago that Nate had the vision of starting up his own practice and now it's the real deal and it's doing well for Dr. Hansen with his office manager being his wife. Way to make a dream a reality.

The Mallory's are winding down on soccer, I was able to go see Kennlyn play in her last game and after we went to Casper's ice cream to celebrate a great game.
While we were watching Andrew & Lindsay's Nora and Arwyn Dale took them to watch one of Mazin's games. The girls loved cheering him on and playing on the playground close by.

Dale and I went to the Mallory's Church service to watch Langston and Mazin participate in their wards Primary Sacrament Meeting program. It was themed around this year's study of the Old Testament. Both did a great job on their parts and the songs really touched my heart. These programs are always something I look forward to.

The whole family got in the Halloween spirit in one way or another. This year they didn't disappoint either. From cute to freaky, they had it all.

Andrew had some down time at work and so his crew went to the Talladega Speedway and watched a NASCAR race live. What a way to pump up the guys, right? They all loved it.

When he got home, he and Lindsay packed up their bags for themselves and Titan & Eloise for Disneyland (Dale and I watched Nora & Arwyn while they were gone). They flew, which was a first for the kids, and they all loved their time together. Who wouldn't, it's Disneyland!!

Dale and I tried our best to entertain the littles while they were in our care. We stayed at their house because of school, until the weekend and then they slept at our house. I think we all had a good time, spending time with those we love.

Arwyn was brave and had two hernias removed out of her little body. Andrew went with her to the hospital and Andrew said she was a trooper and did great.

She was up and going in time to celebrate Halloween just not quite as lively as she probably would have liked, but she got her fill of candy and that's all that matters to a kid, right?

A funny thing happened to Garrett when he opened his garage to go to work one day.... he had a bunch of sheep in his yard eating his grass!! There had been sheep feeding in the field next to them, but as you know the grass is greener on the other side of the fence and when one goes, the others follow. It was quite a thrill for the kids to see though.

With Zandra being the PTSO Pres. at the kids school, for a fundraiser the kids participated in a Fun Run. They had a mascot run with them and it made for more fun. This event raised quite a bit of money to go towards projects to help school programs. Way to go Jorie, Luke and Zandra!

Garrett and Zandra took advantage of nice fall weather and got out on a few ATV rides, leaving from their backyard as well as with a group of guys he works with.

Jorie and Garrett had their last soccer game. Jorie was out on the field and Garrett helped coach her team. They are both winners in my eyes.

Garrett helped Dale fill his itch for fishing at least one day this month by coming our way to go fishing at Chesterfield Reservoir in ID.

Garrett & Zandra took advantage of an invite from a real estate company he works with to go enjoy Green Acre Farms for some fun. It had a variety of things to do. The kids had so much fun they didn't want to go home.

For Jorie's birthday they threw a friend party themed around Pokeman and also had those in the family that could come to dinner and fun at their house the next day. We even had cotton candy!! Turning 7 is a big deal!!

The Hassell's got their boat out for one last run on Pineview Reservoir on a nice warmer day. They were able to have Garrett, Luke, Nate & Diana join them on the water as well. Good timing for our Washington kids to have this opportunity, they were in Utah for the Open House we were throwing them.

They also gave June another first, by taking her to Disneyland with Jason's family. I think dad and mom had more than June!!

While in California June also had her first ocean experience.

Once back in Utah they took June to her first Jazz basketball game. She was all decked out in the fan gear too. She might have been one of the younger fans there, but I have a feeling she'll be cheering on the team in a lot more games.

On a sad note, Jason's Grandma Cash passed away; Danica posted this on her Facebook page - "Heaven gained one heck of a woman today. We love you Grandma Weese! 91 years and the most caring, hardworking, determined and loving person".
June never got to know this wonderful lady, but I'm sure she'll meet her again because she was an angel here on earth.

Even with the hint of snow we had it cleared up the next day making it a pretty awesome month for the Hansen Clan.
Now you know why I named this month outstanding. It truly was.

Life is good.
