After last month, we need a little solstice, or slowing down. Some of us did and some of us still kept going. Here's what happened with the Hansen Clan...
The month of September always turns my heart to mom and dad. With both of their birthdays this month I can't forget them. Dad would be 97yrs. and mom would be 98yrs. Happy Heavenly Birthday you two! Love you forever.
With school going full swing Dale's still making sure we get paid and I started Acadience testing. They changed the name, but that's all, still the same tests and procedures, go figure.
One of the perks of testing at the schools is getting to see the kids work displayed in the halls. Sometimes you get a chuckle out of what kids write. This is part of why I enjoy my job. Kids say it the way it is. Love it!
Safety Tip #1,000...Never jump in the pool with out a swimsuit and Safety Tip #66...Never fart in front of a fire! See what I mean? We learn something new every day!
For Kennlyn's birthday (which was last month), she wanted to go to a show at the theater. So she waited for almost a month to cash in on her Birthday Date. We took her to see "The Misic Man" put on by Music Theater West. The female lead, Miriam the Librarian, is a gal that's in our Married Student Ward so it was fun seeing her preform as well. Kennlyn loved it.
Dad, Andrew and Garrett got in a day of float-tube fishing at Cutler Reservoir. They picked up Floyd Griffiths as well and all caught fish, but Garrett came out the top fisherman. He was pretty excited.
Zandra and I spent time together at the American West Heritage Center. I volunteered to help with the Raffle and Silent Auction for the Mighty Steps for Downs Syndrome Awareness Event that was held there. We both walked with our friends, Jordan and Sara Benson, who has Namoi, who has Downs Syndrome.
We saw my niece, Erin, there with her husband and kids as well. So we got the Sabey's to walk with us. They have two children with Downs Syndrome, Hope, and Sunny.
It's a great event, with a lot of fun things for the kids. Zandra and the kids met up with a friend, Sara McKnight, and her boy, Killian, and they had fun checking out the train ride and the booths while I helped with the auction. It was a fun and rewarding day for all.
Zandra dropped me off at Kennlyn's soccer game on the way back to our house and I met Danica and Jason there to watch her last soccer game, while Zandra and the kids layed low at our house. Those that wanted and could (the Mallory's and I), went to dinner at Tandoori Oven to make the most of our time together with our out of towners (Jason, Danica, Zandra, and the kids).
Dale and I had a fun food tasting experience. When I was getting groceries I came across some different types of fruit that looked interesting, so I thought I'd give them a try.
I bought a pineapple, and Mango (which was the normal ones), Prickly Pears, Red Dragon Fruit, and Rabatua or something like that. My favorite were the little prickly ones (the Rabatua?), besides the pineapple and mango.
I went to our local Parade of Homes show with Lindsay for a couple of afternoons. We'd grab some lunch and see some nice homes that gave us ideas on decorating and building. Thanks Lindsay for letting me tag along, it was a great girls out for both of us.
September has a National Daughter Day that I never knew about, but I wanted to recognize my awsome daughters and daughter-in-laws. Thanks for being a part of our family Amie, Zandra, Lindsay, and Danica I feel VERY blessed.
For the Mallory clan soccer has been their main activity. Amie is helping coach Jaxson and Kennlyn's teams and is the coach for Langston. With three of their four kids playing it's been a bit busy, but they've made it work.
Jaxson's playing on a competitive state team, Kennlyn's on a local competitive team, and Langston's playing recreationl soccer. I've tried to go and watch games as I can and it's been fun seeing them all improve in the game. Brings back memories of me running kids around to games.
The Mallory's also joined Dale and I at Blue Water Resort at Bear Lake for the Labor Day weekend. Dale and Matt took the kids fishing at the Garden City Pond and Mazin caught his first fish! What a thrill it was for him.
Mazin also had another first. He went to the dentist for his first time and came out all smiles and with no cavities. I'm sure dad and mom smiled at that.
Andrew and Lindsay got busy and fixed up Nora's room. It seems they always have a project in the works. Nora loves her room and we think it looks pretty awesome too. I'd say Andrew and Lindsay make a great decorating team.
They also pulled the family together and got some great pictures of their family. The kids are getting bigger, and so are some of the smiles.
Andrews been checking around for awhile and finally found his dream boat. A 1994 Mastercraft Prostar 190. He and dad took it out on the water to see how it handled a skier behind it and they both loved it. He even got it to fit in their garage to keep it out of the weather.
Fun times ahead with the Hansen clan now that we have two ski boats in the family.
September holds World Cerebral Palsy Day. Cerebral Palsy is a disability resulting from damage to the brain before, during, or shortly after birth and outwardly manifested by muscular incoordination and speech disturbances. Nora has been diagnosed with it, however she is always positive and always fighting. She is a great example to all on enduring, and only two years old!
Garrett turned the big 30 this month. To celebrate they took the family on an Alaskan cruise. The kids loved it just as much as Garrett and Zandra. What's not to love about a cruise?
They saw a lot of beautiful sights and were able to spend some time with friends in Washington to celebrate Garrett's and Zandra's friend, Lauren's, birthdays, before they boarded the ship, as well as spend some time with Uncle Nate on their way home. Happy Birthday Garrett!
Once they got back on the ground, Zandra took the kids to the zoo to enjoy an afternoon in our beautiful fall weather, and Garrett got in some mountain biking with some buddies. He also recruited Luke and they used their skills to build Jorie a balance beam that she can practice her gymnastics on it.
For the Labor Day Weekend, Jason and Danica headed south and spent some time in sunny St. George with Jason's family. They spent time at the pool and worked on their climbing skills.
Danica did a first. She went to Swiss Days in Midway, UT with the Hassell gals and loved it! It's a fun way to find treasures for you or your house, and gives you the feel of Switzerland. Sounds fun!
To test out their new recently purchased 4-wheel ride they checked out Causey Reservoir and LOVED it. It's not far from where they live either, bonus!!
For their 2 year wedding anniversary they decided to use there resources and found a camping spot near Causey Reservoir. They slept in the back of the 4Runner and then spent the day paddle-boarding and catching some rays on the beach. They also went to a Drive-In Movie and watched it in the back of the 4Runner. Maybe they'll be doing more camping in the future.
Jason found time to get some work in and with the way the economy has been it's been keeping him busy. He was able to help pay the bills by closing on some loans. The market is good right now for the buyer and seller.
We pulled together those that could join us and had an early birthday dinner get-together with Jason, Danica, the Mallory clan, Garrett, Zanda and kids for Danica. We met in Brigham City at Firehouse Pizzeria and got well fed with food and catching up with everyone. It was a good way to end the month by spending time with family.
