I started out the month in the operating room, where I had a bunion taken care of on my left foot. Dr. Ryan Rigby filled in for Nate because he was closer. It was a same day surgery and Dale made a good nurse for me when I got home. I was sporting a nice looking boot for awhile.......
........but, time heals and the boot turned into wearing soft shoes. This experience gave me an appreciation for having two feet to walk and run with.
I even started sporting a new look with getting some glasses to wear at night when my eyes are tired or in the morning when I haven't put my contacts in.
To help me from getting too antsy, I got out some, but I'm not walking too fast. I helped do interviews with students for a class that KaeDawn Falsev teaches at Sky View High School, and also helped in Titan's class at Summit Elementary.
I went to our home wards RS Birthday Dinner and got to meet some of the newer sisters that have moved into the ward. I also ushered at the Eccles for Cache Valley Civic Ballet's Sleeping Beauty to fill in some down time.
We had a few visitors in our yard for a couple of days. With all of the fresh snow in the mountains the deer are still staying low. I don't mind them visiting as long as they keep going to greener pastures once the snow melts.
I was the lucky one to be in charge of planning the Petersen Sibling Dinner with my brothers and sisters. We met Larry & Glee, Kim & Kathy, and Danny & Terry at Callaway's Bistro in Smithfield for dinner and then we came to our house for dessert and to visit. It's a good way to catch up on everyone's comings and goings. We missed Craig & Janet who are still serving on a mission in Africa, DeAnn & Steve who are in the process of moving from Bozeman, MT to Henderson, NV, and Tanya & Greg who were in Island Park, ID celebrating family birthdays with their kids. We get what we get and are glad for it.
Dale and I were able to go witness the marriage and sealing of his nephew, Ethan Hansen, at the Logan Temple with family. It turned out to be a beautiful almost spring like day for their wedding. What a cute couple and beautiful bride!! We also went to the wedding dinner and reception. Mr. & Mrs. Hansen we wish you the best!
I got together with my Golden Girls. We went to lunch here in Logan at Hu Hut and got in a good visit.
We were going to meet Jeanette Petersen in Farmington, but her plans changed and the weather took a turn with rain and snow, so we stayed local. It was still a fun time.
One night when Dale was gone to his choir practice, and I was home alone, I had quite an experience. I went into our 1/2 bath on the main floor and found some water by the toilet. When I got looking closer, I realized that water was spurting out of the valve that was connected to the pipe from the wall to the toilet. I tried turning off the valve, but that didn't stop the water, so I went downstairs to turn off the water in the house. When I set foot on the carpet in the bedroom where the water shut-off valve was the carpet was soaking wet!! It appeared that the water had been leaking for awhile and the leak slowly got bigger! There was also two big bubbles full of water on the wall in the bedroom. I couldn't get a hold of Dale, Andrew or Matt to come help right away, so I started hauling out the things I could from the room to get them off the water soaked carpet. I got everything out, except the bed, with a lot of determination. The bad thing was I was still recovering from my foot surgery.
I was finally able to make contact with Andrew and Matt and they came and helped get the bed out, the carpet up, the pad out and the fans going. Andrew stopped on his way here and got two fans, and a carpet cleaner to soak up the water from the carpet. He even cut out the sheet rock from the walls that had gotten soaked so that the insulation could dry out. His quick thinking and skills he learned from his ARS days paid off for us again. Andrew and Matt were lifesavers.
When Dale got home from practice all the hard work was done and I had my foot up because it was swollen and sore!! Oh, the joys of having these little unexpected things happen. Whya do they always seem to happen when Dale's not around or unavailable? Go figure.
Garrett & Zandra, Jorie and Luke and, Danica & Jason came and stayed for a night. We played Settlers of Catan with them and then the next morning we went to breakfast at Herm's Inn. It was fun to have them here I needed a good game night even if I lost.
Nate's on his own officially as Dr. Nathan Hansen. We're planning on going to visit he and Kim next month and to check out his new office.
Kim got through her 1st semester of college with flying colors. Way to go Kim!!
Nate and Kim were able to join the Ruyle's (Kim's family) in San Diego for some family bonding time as well. Can't think of a better way to celebrate the school break.
They've enjoyed some beautiful sunsets from their place as well. Nate's even got his stationary bike set up to ride into the sunset. Pretty creative.
The Mallorys' s got in some fun in the snow. Amie took Mazin and Langston up to Beaver Mountain for some spring skiing. There's still quite a bit of snow with the late storms we've had.
Langston's loving pre-school and got to make a cute cut-out mask to make him look like a leprechaun for St. Patrick's Day! He looked pretty authentic, I'd say.
Amie started up a new online business with a lady from Oakley. She sells suits online, and gets commission off of the sales. With Proms and weddings coming up she's not doing too bad.
Amie also had a little excitement when she couldn't find Mazin. After looking for awhile for him she found him sitting in the clothes dryer!! That kid is quite the character.
Mazin's also pretty lucky because, he fell backward off of the bench by the table in their kitchen onto the hard tile floor and ended up cutting his head open in two spots because of the way the tile was. He ended up having to have some stitches. He's been a good sport and still looks pretty cute in his blue head wrap. Oh, the joys of an active child. Let's hope he doesn't try either of those tricks again!
Jaxson and Kennlyn finished off their basketball season. Both did real well and had a great time honing their ball skills.
Jaxson also celebrated birthday #12!! He celebrated in Boise, ID with Grandma Sheryl and cousins, in Burley, ID with Grandpa and Grandma Mallory and cousins, at home with family in Cache Valley, and had a friend birthday party at the Sports Academy. His family, Danica & Jason, and friends went swimming and played some basketball. Wow!! I guess turning 12 is a big deal!!
Andrew got to totally play Mr. Mom most of the month because Lindsay had some pretty serious surgery done at the end of last month. She had a prolapsed uterus, ladder and rectum, that got taken care of. During the surgery the doctor found that her uterus was twice it's size and full of fibroids and a precancerous mass. Her left ovary was the size of a tennis ball due to a big cyst that he cut and drained. The cure for the mass was to remove the uterus. She made it through the surgery and feels blessed that they found what they did when they did. Tender mercies were thrown her way.
Andrew and the kids have been great to her and are so good to entertain her and love her so the days go by fast.
When Lindsay got to feeling like getting out a bit. Andrew took her to the Home & Garden Show here in the valley. I joined up with them to help with the kids. Titan and Eloise got their faces painted, Titan LOVED the snakes that were there, they got to color and design Easter eggs, and the kids got balloon hats. We all got some good ideas for our homes too.

Then later in the month they headed south again and went to a friends wedding in St. George, UT.
George, one of Jason's groomsmen for their wedding, got married and Jason returned the favor and was a groomsman for George. What a great friend, right?

Both Arwyn and Nora are standing up to the furniture and trying to take steps. Nora got foot braces to help her ankles from turning in. They weren't what Lindsay thought they'd be like so she talked with her orthotist and they realized they gave Nora the wrong braces. With the right braces, Nora can wear shoes and is able to stand and get around pretty good now. She'll be walking soon!
Garrett took advantage of the new snow and went skiing at Powder Mountain with a co-worker.
He also did up a few videos on Face Book that explained some benefits and changes that people can make with some new loans to the listeners as well as closed on some loans. He's been mightily working this month.

Zandra and Jorie made some girl time and got their fingernails all fancy in honor of St. Patricks Day. Jorie loved having pretty fingernails.
Luke's been pushing his walker toy around and now he's starting to stand and try and take steps. We'll be having a trio of walkers with Nora, Arwyn, and Luke all taking off soon!
Danica got mighty brave and changed her hair color to a true blonde! I guess she wants to see if blondes really do have more fun. Time will tell.
Danica and Jason also took advantage of the spring snow and went skiing at Brian Head for a weekend of fun on the slopes with friends.

Then later in the month they headed south again and went to a friends wedding in St. George, UT.
George, one of Jason's groomsmen for their wedding, got married and Jason returned the favor and was a groomsman for George. What a great friend, right?
We gathered those that could come and held our annual Easter Egg Hunt and picnic here at the house the day before Easter. We had all but Nate and Kim here with us for some fun. The weather looked like spring and was even warm!!
Before the big hunt....
After the hunt with baskets overflowing with treats and goodies....
We gave the kids some sunglasses and a beach towel for Easter and Mazin loved his gift right away!
Jorie made a new friend at grandma's
All smiles?
Grandpa surprised us all and pulled up with a new/used boat for us to use for some fun in the sun! It's a Malibu Sunsetter inboard with some get up and go! Fun times ahead for the Hansen clan. Can't wait!!
A great way to add to this mighty month was coming into the kitchen and seeing the daffodil bulb that I'd forced blooming!!! A little spring indoors. Then one evening we were able to see a beautiful sunset. We sure live in a wonderful world.
