November Nuances

Nate & Kim celebrated their 9th anniversary. They’ve stuck it together for nine years, so here’s to 10 more. Congratulations!

They also decided to stay at their place by the harbor until spring and then they’ll move closer to Nate’s office and Kim’s schooling.

I can see why they don't want to move. They have some pretty awesome sunsets and can be out on the water anytime they want. (Can you tell who's on the paddle board?)
So pretty! I wish them well.

Nate and Kim took advantage of the new powdery snow and did some backcountry skiing around the Crystal Mountain Resort area before it opened. They have more snow than we do!

Nate also took their dog, Meru, out with him for some fun in the snow. Isn't a dog, a man's best friend?

I’m still enjoying the time I've been able to serve in the clothing rental area and especially in the Youth Center in the Logan Temple. I was able to help watch four kids, ages 8,6, and 1 that were sealed to their parents as a cute little 3 year old observed. The kids were so well behaved and so good with each other. It was a neat day.

Jaxson and Kennlyn have been playing on basketball teams from their area and I’ve been able to go and watch some of their games to cheer them on.  They’re both improving on their skills.Way to go kiddos!!

Danica and Jason were able to come and watch Jaxson play in a couple of his games when he was playing in a tournament. They even came with a support sign to cheer him on!  (Payback for when we went with signs to Danica's soccer games.)

Dale and I took Langston to Earth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LIVE at the Eccles Theater for an early birthday present. They had puppets and people wearing costumes that looked like real dinosaurs. Seriously, they looked real. It was so cute, Langston at first said, “I know these aren’t real, and then after he saw the big triceratops come out he said, “Grandma, this is a real dinosaur. It’s real!” They taught us about the different dinosaurs and shared facts about dinosaurs as well. It was pretty entertaining. We bought Langston a puppet T-Rex dinosaur for him and he got to pet some of the dinosaur puppets. He LOVED it! I think we scored on his birthday gift even if it was three weeks early.

For Veteran’s Day Dale picked up his folks and I jumped in with Amie and her kids and we went to the Providence Elementary Veteran’s Day program. Jaxson’s class was in it and it was very well done. They even gave all of the Veteran’s a red carnation.

I couldn't help but think of my dad, who served in the Army during WWII, as well as my two brothers and my uncles who all served our country. We were blessed, no one was killed in the war.

A new restaurant, SWEETO BURRITO, opened up recently here in the valley and so our Relief Society Lunch Bunch decided to check it out. We had a great turn-out, good food, and good company. I sure love these ladies.

Dale sang with the American Festival Chorus in the newly remodeled Daines Concert Hall for their famous Veteran's Day Concert.

They also performed for the American Choral Directors Association, Utah Chapter, kick off of their 2017 State Conference with a concert featuring Morten Lauridsen and the American Festival Chorus in Logan as well as doing this concert in Salt Lake City, UT with Dr. Lauridsen on the University of Utah's campus.

In 2006, Lauridsen was named an ‘American Choral Master’ by the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2007 he received the National Medal of Arts from the President in a White House ceremony, “for his composition of radiant choral works combining musical beauty, power and spiritual depth that have thrilled audiences worldwide.”
His works have been recorded on more than 200 CDs, five of which have received Grammy Award nominations, including O Magnum Mysterium by the Tiffany Consort, A Company of Voices by Conspirare, Sound The Bells by The Bay Brass and two all-Lauridsen discs entitled Lux Aeterna by the Los Angeles Master Chorale led by Paul Salamunovich and Polyphony with the Britten Sinfonia conducted by Stephen Layton. His principal publishers are Peermusic (New York/Hamburg) and Faber Music (London).

I was able to get together with my Golden Girls (Kathy, Jeanette, & Becky) for a day out on the town. We met Jeanette at Farmington Station for lunch, shopping, visiting, and to build memories. A day well spent.

Dale and I went to the Christmas Tree Jubilee at the new Green Canyon high school that was hosted by the Cache Education Foundation to raise money for the foundation. They had at least 25 trees and 10 wreaths that were decorated all nice, and a lot of nice items for a silent auction. They also served a tasty meal catered by Off-Premise catering that was donated for the event.

Dale and I even got into the spirit some by winning the high bid on a silent auction item, a cooking class with Citrus Pear. Fun times.

For Thanksgiving, we had all but Nate and Kim (he was on call over Thanksgiving) from our family, gather at Matt and Amie’s new home in Providence, UT. They have a lot more room for tables to be set up and still have room to just hang out.

We all chipped in to help with the meal and had a delicious dinner, with great company. Some in the group went in the backyard and played flag football after dinner while others visited and we got all the dishes cleaned up. Then we all went to Andrew and Lindsay’s Clubhouse in Smithfield, UT to gather with extended family on my side of the family. We played pool, air hockey, and games. Ate left-over rolls, turkey, and salads and had pie. All of my brother Danny’s family showed up and we had a great time catching up with them.

It was a fun, full day. I’m very thankful for family and the memories we are making. We missed you Nate and Kim <3

Over the Thanksgiving weekend we celebrated Langston's real birthday and also held a little Turkey Shoot with our family up Hyde Park Canyon. We found out that we have some pretty good sharp shooters in our family. It was a fun way to end a great weekend.

I ushered at the Eccles for the annual Cache Valley Civic Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. The caliber of talent that our community has never ceases to amaze me.

Other family highlights from the month:

We sold our boat!! Dale wants to get one that has more engine power to pull us up out of the water. (I guess we got spoiled by the old Gulfstream)
Who would of guessed a boat would of sold after being posted on KSL classified in November for two weeks! I guess that shows you what mild weather we've had this month.

Dale went fishing with Garrett at Mantua Reservoir and never even got a bite, but had some fun in the sun and on the water. That same day he hooked up with my nephew, Adam Petersen, and went fishing at Treasureton Reservoir and came home with a keeper!! Thanks Adam for putting a smile on his face!!

From the Mallory crew—Langston pretty much learned to ride his bike without training wheels in minutes. He’s off pedaling full-time now.

Dale joined Matt and some of their neighbors and they cut down a BIG pine tree that was in front of their house. They did a pretty good job in landing it perfectly along the sidewatk,  so it didn't block the road. They have quite a bit of firewood for their fireplaces now!
Andrew came and helped with the clean-up. It sure opened up their yard a lot. Nice work guys!

From the Andrew Hansen crew---Andrew got busy on his time home and put in some shelves in their laundry area and made a place for the kids to hang their coats, etc. in their hall by their back door. He added all that fancy woodwork too.  Quite the handy-man, huh?

Titan and Eloise got their exercise by going to the Jump Zone with friends for a birthday party.

Andrew also turned the BIG 3-0 and to celebrate Lindsay had lined up that I tend the kids while they stayed a night at The Anniversary Inn.

We all had a good time. Those little ones are growing too fast!!

From Garrett’s crew—Jorie went to Primary Children’s for her follow-up check-up after her surgery last month. She was given the all’s clear news and won’t be needing anymore surgeries! This put a BIG smile on all of us.

Danica and Jason’s news—Danica and Jason hosted a Friendsgiving Dinner at their new place and served a full out turkey meal. Danica cooked her first turkey and it came out looking great and tasting even better. Jason got to hone his carving skills as well.

Danica’s luck finally showed up. She entered a contest on Facebook and ended up winning $500 in cash from Zac’s Towing!! Look who's smiling here. That will come in handy with Christmas around the corner.

November, is officially in the books and the memories from it are embedded in our hearts.
