Dale and I hopped in Andrew and Lindsay's Nissan Armada with Titan and Eloise and we all headed to Seattle, WA over the Labor Day weekend to go visit Nate and Kim. I figured if they weren't able to come to us, we'd go to them! The first day we made it as far as Baker, OR with stops for gas and to stay the night. Then after breakfast we hit the road again and were able to meet up with Nate at Ivan's for dinner. Ivan's is a fun seafood place by the water. The food was good, but the company was better. Kim was in California doing a wedding there, and will be back on Saturday.
After being well fed we headed over to Nate and Kim's new place in Burien, WA where he and Kim share a house with another couple. It's in a real nice area and on the Puget Sound, so the water is close by. It was great catching up and seeing how creative they've been to make a 1 bedroom house into a 2 bedroom one. The other couple was out of town, so we stayed late visiting before heading to our hotel.
Nate had to go into work for a bit as well as pick up Kim from the Airport, so the next day we headed to the Seattle Aquarium and with Andrew's driving skills and Dad's navigation skills we made it there. We got to see them feed the octopus, touch some gnomes, see tons of fish, watched some seals and a polar bear, as well as a lot of other animals. We learned a lot about sea animals too.
Then we walked over to Pike's Place Market and checked out the atmosphere and wares it has to offer. Dale and I ate fresh seafood for lunch.
We had to check out the famous, yet disgusting gum wall as well.
The Space Needle was next on our list of to do's. Titan even ran into Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper from Star Wars while we were in the area.
We met up with Nate and Kim and grabbed a bite to eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory and visited and then Dale and I went with Nate and Kim back to their place to visit and Andrew and Lindsay took the kids back to the hotel to let them get to bed after a fun full day.
Dale and I drove Kim's car back to the hotel from their place and the next day we went to church. It was a friendly ward and a great meeting. We got checked out of the hotel and headed back over to Nate and Kim's to spend some time collecting sand dollars and crabs on the beach. Titan loved finding the crabs hiding under the rocks! Nate got out the kayak and took Titan and El out for a ride and then the guys went out on the paddle board and kayak and caught some crab for dinner. I went to Trader Joe's with Kim to get some groceries for dinner. It was a first for us catching crabs from the ocean and then cooking them up and eating them. We had a good time and made some good memories and then headed out to make our way home. It was wonderful seeing Nate and Kim, even if it wasn't for a long visit, it was well worth the ride.
We got as far as LeGrande, OR before we decided to bed down for the night. Back on the road we stopped for gas and also stopped in Burley, ID where we met the Mallory's at a park and picked up some Kentucky Fried Chicken with the fixings and had a picnic and let the kids play while we visited. Next stop home!! It was a quick trip, but a fun one where memories were made. Definately worth the drive. Titan and Eloise were troopers and great travelers.
Jorie gave Garrett and Zandra a scare for a bit. She started with a high fever that they just couldn't get to stay down. When it got to 103 degrees they took her to the doctor and then to have tests done. They found out she had a way bad kidney infection and she got a shot and put on a real strong prescription which helped. After tests and a visit with a urologist Garrett and Zandra found out that Jorie has vesicoureteral reflux, but the urologist said that she could outgrow this and so she's on meds to help her to not get another bad infection. So glad they have a diagnosis and Jorie's doing good and back to her happy self again.
Garrett's birthday was when all this was going on, but they were able to get out and go to dinner to celebrate after Jorie's temperature started leveling out. Happy 27th Birthday Garrett!!

I started doing the DIBELS testing and with the new high school, Ridgeline High, in Millville it pushed some of the schools to busting until the other new high school, Green Canyon High, in North Logan gets done it will be that way until next year. There's a lot of changes going on in the Cache County School District in the next two years, putting a lot on Dale's plate at work as well. We'll all plow through and make it though.
Langston started pre-school with a group of kids from the area. He was pretty excited to start school too! This gives Amie a little one on one time with Mazin now.
I went to Time Out for Women that was held in the Spectrum at USU with my Golden Girls, Teresa Maughan, Kathy Fishburn, and Jeanette Petersen, for our retreat this year. They had some great speakers: Michael McLean, Callie Reed, Jon Bytheway, and Elaine Dalton just to name a few. We also colored flashcards to help those wanting to learn English for the Cache Valley Language Learning Center. I sure love my Golden Girl time! These ladies are gems.
Nate got his bike out and rode from Oregon to San Francisco with his buddy Jeremy Koons. They rode 471 miles in seven days! He's not one to let dirt grow under his feet is he. Way to go guys!!
I met Amie and the kids in Brigham City, UT and jumped in with them. We went to Salt Lake to watch Danica's soccer game at Westminster College. They won and we won by getting to see Danica and visiting with her a bit. She even gave us some DSU shirts to wear for the game. It was a win, win evening, so great to see our little D!!
I got back to ushering some shows at the Eccles again. A local company put on the show, The Little Mermaid. It was cute to see the little girls come in wearing Ariel costumes or princess dresses.
Ushering is rewarding in that way. I enjoy seeing and visiting with the patrons of all ages.
I hosted a 12th Ward Relief Society Bread and Jam making event at our house. The Bishops wife, Amy Kohler, taught the gals how to make bread, and I taught them how to make freezer jam (Which is pretty funny because all I do to make it is follow the directions on the package of pectin). We had around 30 sisters come and had only planned on 15-20 to come, so we had to cut the loaves of bread in half and Sister Debbie Gudmundson had made about 19 jars of jam up, but I had to pull out some of my freezer jam from last year so everyone could have some. It was great to be able to visit with and get to know some of the gals better. I think all had a good time.
I love this time of year, when it starts cooling down and the leaves are starting to change. We've had some pretty good rain storms and we even got some light snow that fell on top of the mountains.
On a sad note, our dog Tag, who has been with us for 11years died. He was probably 12 years old or more. We're not sure though because Amie got him at the pound in Burley, ID and was a gift to Dale for his birthday after our last dog, Bo died. We had some good memories with Tag. He was probably the happiest dog around and so full of energy up until about the last two weeks before he passed away peacefully in the night in his doghouse. We'll miss you Tag.
