April Association

The fun hasn't stopped! Our California trip continues....Day 5 - We're heading home. We stopped and toured the Jelly Belly Factory. It was pretty neat to see how they run the operation. They had us wear hats and we even got a box of Jelly Belly Beans at the end. Their was a wall of pictures that were totally made out of the beans. It was pretty cool.

The John Wayne one was probably my favorite, but they had ALOT of others.

Then we stopped in Reno, NV to get a glimpse of the Reno Temple. It was definitely a light on the hill in Reno.

We ran into slow traffic because of a bad wreck, so we got in real late. We stayed in Winnemucca for the night.
Day 6 - We hit the road again and we arrived home in time for Dale to go to the Priesthood session of General Conference.
It was a fun trip and great to see some of California that we haven't really seen before. Thanks Floyd and Alison for joining us!

We had a little scare this month..... Dale and I were tending Titan and Eloise. They were playing outside while we were in the house listening to a guy selling Solar Panels. I had checked on them probably 7-10min. ago when I heard Eloise say, "Grandma, I want to go in the trailer with Titan". I thought, "How would he get in the trailer, it's locked?" Well, I went out and checked around and could hear Titan crying and realized the trailer was unlocked. I opened the door and he was sitting on the couch crying. I noticed some dark plastic pieces on the ground and thought maybe he had climbed on something and knocked it off. Well, after looking around more I realized that the sky light was broken! Then I asked Titan how that happened. He said that he had climbed the outside ladder on the trailer and was walking on top of the trailer and fell through the bubble (sky light) he was trying to pop!
He did have some scrapes on his arms and one on his forehead, but other than that he was fine. He was one VERY blessed boy! I died when I realized he had been walking on top of the trailer and then to see the hole in the sky-light that just barely fit his body was mind blowing! I feel like someone was watching over our little guy. He had so many things that could of happened to him, and to just come out with a few scrapes!! Lessons were taught and learned that day. So thankful he was ok.

Dale and I went to Boston, MA with the school board, to the National School Boards Association Conference.  It was a bit chilly, rainy and quite windy, but we had fun.

Day 1: Was spent in the car traveling to the airport, waiting in the airport, riding on the plane and then leaving the airport to get into our hotel via a hotel shuttle. We were very ready to hit the sack that night.
Day 2: Dale went to classes for part of the conference. I went to lunch with the gals. We all bought a City Pass and put it to use by going to the top of the Prudential Building.  We saw Boston from a bird's eye view and learned about it's history. Pretty cool.

Then we braved the subway system and headed over to the Boston Aquarium, again using our passes. You would of thought we knew what we were doing!

At the Aquarium we saw penguins, jelly fish, sea turtles, sea horses, sharks, tons of different kinds of fish, etc. I even got to pet a sting ray! It was really cool. I would of loved to have been able to spend more time there.

We met up with the rest of the group and we all went to dinner at Legend Seafood. Dale had cooked lobster. Nothing like the real deal. The food was really good and so was the company.

Day 3: Dale went to meetings/classes again in the morning, so I slept in and read and then met up with the group for lunch with the USBA group and Zions Bank biggies. The guys went back to their conference stuff and I went with the gals to the Museum of Natural Arts where we used our pass again. We went by transit and did just fine. I think we've got the system down. The museum is three levels of a lot of different art forms. I could of spent the whole day there. It was very interesting and so big and so neat! I loved the modern art they had there as well. Definitely thinking out of the box, but very creative. I was glad we went and what a better way to spend a Sunday, when you aren't in church. Getting culturally refined!

We met up with the rest of the group and went to a dinner at the Chart House, hosted by Bryson Sales (school bus dealers) It was in a neat old building by the warf. Again, we had some great seafood. Dale passed on the lobster this time.

Day 4: While the guys were in meetings, we headed out on the Transit and used out Boston City Passes to go see the Museum of Science. Another place where I could of spent most of the day. A great place for families to visit and learn. We saw a cool electricity light show and a lot of other cool things as well.

Dale went with the group that went to Fenway Park to watch the season opener of the Boston Red Sox. It was quite windy and a bit chilly, but they didn't get rained on. The Red Sox ended up losing to the Cardinals, but they all had a good time.

I used my Boston City Pass and went to the JFK Museum with Teri Rhodes and Kathy Christiansen. It was a in a beautiful area, right by the river and was chuck full of memorabilia about John F. Kennedy. Pretty interesting.

It was a full, fun day. We met with the group after for dinner at a place that had huge real onion rings. The kind that you can bite off and not bring the whole onion out with you, and great tasting gourmet hamburgers. Our farewell dinner to Boston.

Day 5: Farewell Boston! You treated us well, even though it was rainy and colder most of the time. I saw a new side of you I hadn't seen before. It was a fun trip.

We got home and the next day I left for Oakley, ID to watch the Mallory kids while Amie went with Matt to a conference at Sun Valley. We all had a good time. Amie got in some R&R and I was glad I could help out and do some bonding with the grandkids.
Mazin in growing like a weed and loves his new wheels. Langston looks forward to pre=school days and even got to visit a farm. Kennlyn has been preparing for her gymnastics recital and Jaxson ended his basketball season with a team party. They did real well in the season.

Jaxson's traveling B-ball team -- Went to Twin Falls to the Jump Zone and for Pizza for their party

I did a little ushering at the Eccles this month. A program that USU did called USU'S Shark Tank, where students presented start-up business ideas to a panel of successful USU Alumni Business Majors. Those kids are pretty on the ball, I was impressed. The winner got $5,000 to go toward their business. I also ushered for the Valley Dance School. Both proved to me that living in Cache Valley is a great place with a lot of talent. I was even able to usher at the AFC Concert "An Evening with Jay Richards" and see Dale preform live for free. The bonus of ushering at the Eccles. Dale also sang in an interfaith devotional at the Logan Tabernacle with the AFC choir. He's been busy!

Dale and I made our first appearance at the pulpit speaking in the Logan Married Student 2nd Stake. Our topic was from Elder Russell M. Nielsen's talk, "Behold, Thy Mother". Oh, the joys for church callings. I know, I'll definitely grow in this calling.

We celebrated Dale's dad's birthday (Keith D Hansen) with him by going to his brother, Byran's, and visiting with family. Keith turned 86! They also had Sunday dinner with us on Dale's birthday. The kids all came for dinner and games. For my birthday we went out to dinner and Dale treated me well and I heard from all the kids. Love family time.

Dale had meetings in Provo, so I tagged along for a couple of days and had some "me" time. I also got to do a session in the new Provo City Center temple. What a beautiful treasure it is. We got home and two days later we took Dale's folks down to American Fork for his cousin, Ben McGregor's, wedding reception. Ben wore a kilt, in honor of his Scotish ancestry. It was really nice and great to see family.

We got the trailer out and took it over to Riverdale to spend a night with Andrew, Lindsay and their kids. We soaked in the hot pools and roasted marshmallows by the fire. It was a bit chilly, but fun. We were glad we had heated mattresses.

Titan started playing indoor Pee Wee Soccer. It was quite entertaining watching those little kids run around with not much of a clue what they were doing! By the end though, they were getting the hang of it more and Titan even got some goals. Fun times.

Garrett and Zandra flew to California (their first Jet Blue flight) and spent the weekend, to get in some warmer weather on the beach.

Jorie's tying to hone her biking skills so she can go with biking with Garrett.

Garrett's creative side helped him come up with an online logo business. He launched his "The Cruising Baby" window clings with a web page and all. We wish him success. They are kind of cute.

Danica hasn't let sunny St. George stop her from making the most of her day. She was a D-Day games champ with her soccer team ...Go Red Team!

She checked out the Kayenta Street Painting Festival in Ivins. That was pretty cool!

She was even in the school paper helping the school set the record for the most sliders. They made it in the books!

Nate maybe didn't set a record, but he got on the hill, big time by running in the Yakima Skyline 50K. It was 31 miles long on trails and had a vertical gain to 9,500 ft. All I can say is the look on his face at the finish line tells the story of how grueling the race was. That boy has grit.

He also got to really play Doctor and helped with a pretty big surgery. Looks pretty intense to me, but you can see by the smile on his face, he loved every minute of it.

Life is good!
