September Sabbatical

A sabbatical means a break or change from a routine. I figured this was just that for the most part.

We celebrated Garrett's birthday twice really. Once by going to dinner with Garrett and Zandra and then a week later taking the boat out for one last hurrah and giving him a few good rides at Cutler Dam.

You don't turn 25 and not celebrate big, right?

I broke my summer routine and started DIBELS testing again. My carefree summer days have come to an end, it's back to business. The kids are worth it and I do enjoy the ladies I work with.

Dales's dad had another mini stroke and it caused some spasm issues, so he's had some tests done. They prescribed some medication that they hope will help. He's doing okay and is in good spirits.

Dale and I went to his brother, Craig's, in West Point, UT for a family get-together to welcome their daughter, Becca, home from her mission. She served in the Washington D.C. South mission and seems to have loved it and looks great. Craig and Heidi had their whole family together so it was good to see all of them.

Dale, Garrett, Zandra and I represented our family at the Petersen Reunion. It was held in Hyde Park at the Lions Park not far from our house. My brother, Larry, was in charge. We ate, visited and played games. It was a fun afternoon and good to re-acquaint ourselves with cousins and nieces and nephews we don't get to see much. I'm pretty blessed to be part of such a neat family.

Dale went on a scouting over-night trip with the boys in the ward. They went to The American West Heritage Merit-Badge Rendezvous and you know I think he has as much fun as the boys did.

I went to St. George with two friends from our Golden Girls group. We did some visiting, went to the St. George Temple, went to the Tuachan Theater and saw The Little Mermaid and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and shopped. It was fun to be with these great women and the shows were wonderful! Their was rain off and on and it was a bit chilly at times, but when the shows were going, the weather cleared up and it was perfect! A VERY fun weekend with the gals!

Nate's starting to feel a bit more comfortable being called Dr. Hansen. He has been busy at the hospitals and he's done quite a few surgeries.

Kim traveled frequently on the weekends to photograph weddings in California. One of the weddings was near Santa Barbara at Kurt Russell's hotel, and she was able to meet him during her stay! One of the perks of being a good photographer.

Both are starting to like their new area more.

The view of Mt. Rainer from their apartment is a constant invitation on the weekends. When Nate isn't on call and Kim was in California, Nate got out and ran the trails as much as possible.
The weekends they were both home (and Nate wasn't on call) have been spent together exploring their new city, trying to find the best breakfast spot or Mexican restaurant.

The Mallory's broke their routine with school starting for Jaxson AND Kennlyn! Jaxson's in 3rd grade and Kennlyn started Kindergarten, and they both love school.

With just Amie and Langston home in the mornings, Langston has been getting a bit more creative in his play ......

Amie handled her second wedding at The David B. Haight Bed & Breakfast and it went off pretty smoothly, with no problems with the weather or the event. She's making a name for the place.

Jaxson and Kennlyn are both playing soccer. Jaxson,on two teams. One in Burley, and one in Oakley. Kennlyn's playing on a Oakley team. Amie's helping to coach both teams. Jaxson's been learning to play different positions and has realized the importance of playing defensively.

Amie also got called to serve in her ward as a Wolf Den Leader with Jaxson's age group. She loves working with the boys and they love her.

Andrew got to fly the youngest CEO (27 yrs. old)in the U.S. to New York. His job has a few perks.

After the third try this year the whole family finished a hike up Bull Run without any tantrums being thrown. For a reward, Andrew treated the group to a pizza dinner out. That made the hike worth it in Titan's eyes, he's always game for pizza!

Danica changed her routine and started taking classes at UTPB as a Junior, as well as starting her college soccer season as a UTPB Falcon.

She's been starting the games and playing in most of it. Her will to win hasn't rubbed off on the team as a whole yet. They've lost more than they've won, but they have tied and won a game as well. (1-3-1) She's been put into a new position in the defensive and it's given her some chances to get some shots off. She's had a few close ones, but is still working at getting a golden goal.
It's been an adjustment for her to be on a new team that's new itself and to be losing more than winning. I tell her she's learning character and patience. She's hanging in there! Go Falcons! We believe yo will win!

This month my folks would of had their birthdays---dad and mom, I'm still thinking of you! Love and miss you both!

I don't mind sabbaticals like this month, it's been alright.
