I was able to serve in the Youth Center at the temple during the first week of the month. Two boys, 9 and 5 yrs. old were sealed to their parents. They were very friendly and talkative and fun to get to know. It was awesome being back in the temple serving again.
I also went to the Scotty McCreery Concert with Amie, Andrew & Lindsay because Dale had board meeting. The concert was originally planned to be at Cherry Peak Resort in Richmond, but due to the dry conditions and the dry grasses around the area they moved it to Green Canyon High School in the football stadium. It was a nice evening, and sitting on the bleachers gave us pretty awesome seats.
The opening act was a local gal, Kennidi Dodds, that was on American's Got Talent. She was good too. Their was a lightning delay before Scotty came out, but we never got any rain and the concert continued on, but it was a bit chilly and windy.
With all the areas that we like to go boating having their boat ramps closed we took the boat out to Benson Marina and met up with the Mallorys and Andrew & Lindsay for grilled hot dogs and the fixings for a meal and then the kids hit the water. Kennlyn got up on skis and the other kids knee-boarded. Amie was able to get Mazin to do it alone and Eloise also soloed on the board. They both loved it! It was a fun evening for all.
The Petersen Reunion happened this month! Last year we cancelled it due to COVID. My sister, Tanya and her family planned it and did a great job. We met at Rendezvous Beach at Bear Lake. They had pulled pork sandwiches, and we all brought a salad or desert and our drink. We visited, played games on the beach, played in the water, and some even wake boarded or tubed thanks to Jonathon Lambert and Brian Petersen for bringing their boats. It was fun to get together and get to know some of our cousins again. There was a good turn-out too!!
Thanks Stecklein Family for all your hard work in pulling this together, it paid off.

We only had 3 bags of frozen corn in the freezer, so I pulled together the troops and we froze corn for the Hassell's, Mallory's, and Dale and I. Then I helped Danica do up some freezer raspberry/blackberry jam. We'll be set for another year or two!!
The team-- Sarah McKnight, Melissa Harvey, Zandra, & Carli Giles (who flew in from Washington)
Zandra wrote on her Facebook post: We did it! The Moms and I completed the Cache Century and cycled 100 miles through Cache Valley. It took us all day, but we had a great time together.
That's what makes memories --- Awesomeness right there!
Nate celebrated his 39th birthday this month. Happy Birthday Nate!!! He celebrated by doing some rock climbing. Does that surprise you?
He also got in some sailing, paddle boarding, trail running and pack rafting in the San Juan Islands with some friends. I'm sure it took some balancing skills to belay the climber, don't you? SO pretty though.
Nate and Diana went to Jackson Hole and then summited the Grand Tetons. Diana's first time doing the Tetons. What a trooper. After the summit they went into Yellowstone National Park to see the sights, but missed seeing Old Faithful erupt I guess that means they'll have to go back.
Before school started Matt help with the Cache Education Foundations Golf Tournament they do every year. He's getting back on the course, and got to know some pretty neat people. That's service with a smile.
Matt, Amie, Jaxson and Kennlyn also took advantage of the last of the summer and with the temple open, they went together and did baptisms for the dead. Nothing better than coming out feeling clean for others, by doing baptisms, right?
With school starting this month Amie posted this on Facebook:
Today I sent off 4 of my favorites back to school…10th, 7th, 3rd, and 16th year! They are all going to do great things and weren’t as excited to go back to school as in the past (maybe it’s because we had such a fun summer together so it just flew by to quick!) I will be sending another one out next week for kindergarten so I’ll have a little time to myself while he is in school…wish me luck!
Matt designed the shirt he wore the first day of school. He promotes kindness as the school counselor and has kids from the different classes help him with different activities that do with kindness throughout the year. We can't have too much kindness in the world.
1st day of Kindergarten and he could hardly hold in his excitement! He will do great and is totally prepared to start school and grow to be an awesome little human like his brothers and sister!
Let’s just hope that school wears him out today and he takes a nap after because he didn’t sleep the best last night because he was sooo excited!
Langston's soccer team played in the Wasatch soccer tournament and after a close championship game, they came out on top taking 1st place in their age division. Way to go Langston (and Amie who was coaching them). Awesomeness right there!
With Andrew home on his off weeks from work, they took advantage of the happenings in the valley and took the kids to to Cache Country Fair. He braved the carnival rides and went on one with Titan. I'm not sure if they were all smiles after they got off that ride or not, but the girls sure were during and after their ride.
Nora had another surgery. She got her tonsils taken out. Andrew took her to the Dr. for the procedure. She was brave and sore, but she made it. Popsicles and ice cream came in very handy. Bless her heart. She still comes out smiling.
Andrew also took Titan out fishing a few times to Newton Dam. They both had success and Titan has learned to love fishing. Enough that when Andrew had to go back to work and they had a Father & Son fishing activity for Primary Activity Days Dale filled in and went fishing with Titan and that made both Titan and Dale happy!
Lindsay took Eloise out for some "girl time" after she signed her up for dance. Eloise is now on a competitive dance team. Nora and Arwyn will be taking beginning dance. Fun times ahead for the girls.
Lindsay jumped right into school with the kids by agreeing to serve as the PTA Pres. for White Pine Elementary. With all the kids in school (Nora and Arwyn are a half day), she wanted to make use of some of her free time. She might be wondering why she took this on at first, but I'm sure the school will be in good hands with the PTA activities they plan and help with. Way to go Lindsay, you're awesome!
Andrew got back into his jive behind the controls again and life still goes on at their house. It's a good thing Lindsay and kids can FaceTime and call him. Modern technology is great that way --- he's just a phone call away.
Garrett helped out with the annual Slingshot Competition that the local Realtors of the Northern Wasatch Association of Realtors put on. Who says work can't be fun?
Luke started Pre-school and Jorie started Kindergarten. My how time flies!! Jorie even catches a ride with Garrett on his motorcycle sometimes to catch the bus.
Zandra has to figure out what to do with some of her free time as well.
We have three moms in the family that are experiencing a new freedom this school year in one way or another, pretty awesome.
I mentioned earlier that Zandra and three of her friends rode in the Century100 Bike Ride, but they also rode for RODS (Rescuing Orphaned Down Syndrome kids)
This Facebook post explains the cause ---
Four amazing and strong moms will put on some sweet @rodsadoption jerseys and bike 100 miles! We are excited to push our limits and see what our incredible bodies are capable of. We are even more excited to dedicate our ride to Kelvin. This sweet boy is 14 years old and has been waiting for his forever family since 2013. He is so full of love and would make a great addition to any family. Kelvin is eligible for a $15,000 grant to help cover his adoption. We will be riding to raise money for Kelvin, spread awareness about abandoned children with down syndrome and hopefully find him his forever family.
Pretty awesome. Way to go gals, you are amazing!
Garrett was able to go flying with a neighbor who is a pilot. He's had the desire to get his own pilot's license and this was what he needed to get him started. He's going to start the groundwork next month. Two pilots in the family could be pretty awesome don't you think?
Danica's been doing more house paintings, and is always thinking of new ways to add a twist to her artistic talents.
They spent some time in Bear Lake with friends as well as supporting friends that were getting married. After last month being full of fun they chilled somewhat this month as far as travel goes anyways.
One VERY exciting thing happened to them though. They found out that Danica is expecting a little one in March. They are thrilled, and so are we! We wish them the best. Their baby announcement was so cute! We found out when they came to eat with us that she was expecting. She had me open a box of shoes she had gotten that didn't fit and she wanted me to see if I'd like them. I opened the box up and those little shoes were in the box! Pretty cute. They'll be great parents.
On the last day of the month Dale and I went to the temple and did sealings. What an awesome way to end the month, knowing that families can be together and that our family is continuing to grow. Pretty awesome. We are blessed.
