Cache County School District has been hosting a big Out of School Bash the first part of June for quite some time now. They rent the Aqua Center so families can swim for free and they have had activities for the kids and a live band for the whole group. It's held at Willow Park and it only costs a family $5.00 for a hamburger or hot dog (or both), a bag of chips, a drink, and an ice cream treat, plus the swimming, activities for the kids and the live band. A pretty good deal I'd say! Dale, along with the Superintendent and the School Board Members do the cooking, and the District Office Staff puts it all together. Where Matt works for the district now, the Mallory clan got to join us for a night of fun. What a great way to say thanks to all the employees of the Cache County School District!
I picked up my friend, Kathy Fishburn, and we met our other good friend, Jeanette Petersen, in Ogden and did some shopping and went to lunch.
Amie had asked Dale if he could watch their kids while she and Matt went to Ogden for a day of fun to celebrate their 14th anniversary. They went and did some rock climbing, indoor surfing, and simulated skydiving.

When we dropped Danica off we found out that Jason had gone fishing with a friend at a private pond to have some fun, and fun he did! He caught a decent size rainbow trout to show off.

To tend, Dale loaded the kids in the truck and they went up Logan Canyon to see Old Ephriam's Grave and have a picnic. We all had a fun full Sat.
Dale hooked up the trailer and loaded the 4-wheeler and
Razor on the rack and took Matt, Jaxson, Langston and Mazin to Blue Water at
Bear Lake for the weekend. They went fishing in their favorite spot and caught
fish, then went on a ride in the Sinks area. All boy stuff!
I packed my bag, loaded up the Subaru, and picked up Amie
and Kennlyn in Providence, and Danica in South Weber, and we headed south to
St. George for a Girls weekend. On our way to St. George we had what could have
been a bad thing happen but we ended up being ok, just shook us up a bit.
I was
driving and we were cruising down Interstate 15 when all of the sudden we came
upon a VERY BIG box in the middle of the lane we were driving in. (It looked
like a trailer until we got closer to it) I naturally went to go to the right,
but felt like that would pull us off into the barrow pit so I started right,
but swerved left to avoid the rumble strips that pull you going 85 MPH. It felt
as if we went on two wheels a bit, and it was tricky gaining control to go
straight, but I held tight to the steering wheel and with the new tires that we’d
put on the Outback the week before, they grabbed the road and we stayed
upright. I thought we’d roll for sure, we all did because it happened so fast.
When we whizzed by the LARGE box, it didn’t even move, so we’re thinking it may
have had something like a washer or dryer in it maybe.
The cool thing though
about all of this is we had been talking about how angels are among us a bit
earlier. After this happened we all knew that angels were watching over us. Thank
you, Dad and Mom, and anyone else for the help you gave us. It could have been
ugly. I said a silent prayer to our Heavenly Father in my head as my heart was
pounding hard.
Amie called 911 to report the box on the highway because we
saw that the truck and car behind us had to swerve as well. Luckily they saw us
and had time to be warned what was ahead though. The dispatch told Amie that there was
an officer heading to the area to get the box off of the Interstate because
they had gotten a call just before ours. I sure hoped no one got hurt!
Amie found a twenty dollar bill between the seats while we
were traveling, and so to lighten up the mood, she came up with the idea that
we should have Kennlyn dress up as Cinderella, have Amie be the wicked
step-mother, with Danica and I as the step-sisters. So, we stopped at the
Desert Industries on our way and believe it or not we all found dresses that coordinated
in a color theme! We stopped at the Dollar Store and bought Kennlyn a crown and
got some accessories for our hair and dresses.
We checked into the hotel and quickly changed into our
“formal wear” for the ball and got our hair done and accessories on then, headed to
Tuacan for the show. We definitely got some looks, but more so when we weren’t
all together. The show was fun and we all had a good time. It was late when we
got back to the hotel, but bed felt good for all of us. What a day we had!!
After sleeping in some and having breakfast provided by the
hotel, we headed out and found a Pickleball court. Amie had bought a set for it
and brought it. Danica and Amie had both played before, but Kennlyn and I
hadn’t. It was REALLY hot, but we endured the heat and played for awhile and
then went and got some ice cream shakes at Nielsen’s Malt Shoppe to cool off.
(It got to 103 degrees that day)
To cool off even more, we took advantage of the hotels
swimming pool and played in the pool until our hands were water soaked and
wrinkled.
We ate a late lunch/early dinner at The Pasta Factory and
then went to the hotel and put facial masks on our faces and watched a show on
TV, showered, and got ready to go see Matilda at Tuacan. Danica did Amie and
Kennlyn’s hair and Amie’s and my make-up. Amie even put a little make-up on
Kennlyn. We went early enough to get pictures before the show and to grab a few
snacks for the show.
None of us had seen Matilda on stage and we all loved it.
The girl that played Matilda was pretty young, and their were other younger
kids in the show. They all did a great job. We were not disappointed. Again, we
got back late to the hotel, but it was a fun, full day and we all went to bed
with a red glow about us from our time out in the pool.
We had breakfast at the hotel and then dressed in our Sunday
clothes and found a church that had the 11:00 time for Sacrament Meeting. The
building was a step back in time because it was the same floor plan as the church I
went to when I was living in River Heights with mom and dad. The ward was a
good mix with older and younger and the speakers were good. We left after
Sacrament Meeting and then headed north down Interstate 15. We stopped in Nephi
for a late lunch and got Danica back to Jason, Amie and Kenllyn back to Matt
and the boys, and me back to Dale safely. It was a fun trip. We decided that
when the grand-daughters turn eight, we’ll start taking them on girl trips with
us with their moms and anyone without kids. We all had a great time.
In honor of my folk’s anniversary, Dale and I went and did
family names that I’d gotten and we did sealings with some of the members from
the Logan Married Student 2nd Stake. It was a neat experience, and
the sealer taught us some things I’d never thought of or knew before.
We found out that we've got a disease called fire blight in four of our flowering crabapple trees that bloom so pretty in the spring. It's pretty bad all over the area. We had it a little last year and cut out the affected branches, but it's back and worse!! Not good.
Dale and I picked up Danica at her place and we all went to
Murray for Dale’s nephew, Parker Lazenby’s, wedding reception. We were able to
visit with Parker’s siblings and other family from Dale’s side we don’t see
much. We also got to see Parker’s dad, Sean, who we hardly ever see because of his parents divorce. I was glad we went. Parker married a cute gal, I hope the best for them.

When we dropped Danica off we found out that Jason had gone fishing with a friend at a private pond to have some fun, and fun he did! He caught a decent size rainbow trout to show off.
I got busy and got the flowerbeds weeded and Dale mowed and
edged the lawn and we had our yearly neighborhood party at our house as well as
a party with couples from the Logan Married
2nd Stake 12th Ward at the house three days later.
It was great spending time with neighbors and friends, and one way to get us to
get the yard in shape.
We had the Mallory's, Garrett and his family, and Jason and
Danica here for a steak fry, mashed potatoes w/gravy, shrimp, tomato, avocado,
red onion, and lettuce salad, strawberry salad, cooked zuchinni mixed with yellow squash, and Rhubarb Custard Cake for
dessert for Father’s Day. Again, the kids were great to come and help with the
final preparations. It was a tasty meal, and great to have those that could,
pull together. Andrew and Lindsay and kids stopped by for dessert. Nate called
and talked to Dale to top off his day. Happy Father’s Day Dad! We love ya!!
We loaded up the trailer and Dale pulled it over to Blue
Water at Bear Lake. We stayed there Friday and Sat. night. Dale got in some
fishing, and we relaxed, played games, played Pickleball, went on a bike ride, and
then headed back home to go to church. After dinner, Dale took me back to Bear
Lake and I stayed there by myself catching up on my journal, doing some
reading, relaxing, watching movies, and going on walks, until my friends, Kathy
Fishburn and Janette Petersen arrived late Tues. afternoon. We visited, went to
dinner and “Who Shot Juanito Bandito” at Pickleville Playhouse. We ran into
Andrea Davis, who owns Pickleville (and we grew up with) after the show, and she gave us free
tickets to the show, “Tarzan” for the next night. Good friends pay off, huh? We
played games, hit the beach, did some kayaking and had some good chats. We’ll
have to make this a yearly event I think.
Matt and Jaxson had scout camp for the week, so Amie,
Kennlyn, Langston, and Mazin came and stayed with me in the trailer for a
couple of days. We went swimming in the pool, went on bike rides, played
Pickleball and games, went kayaking, and watched movies. It got chilly, so we
never did really play in the lake, but we had fun.
Dale joined up with us for dinner on Friday and then stayed
the night and took Jasxon and Kennlyn fishing in the morning. They came back
without any fish, but had some pretty good stories to share.
I had a great week at Bear Lake with all of the company, and
it wasn’t really busy at the lake either. I’ll have to try this again next year.
We headed home and hurried and unpacked the trailer, got
things put away, showered, and set up for a ward party in the yard with the 17th
Married Student Ward where Dale’s serving as the Bishop. They smoked up some
spareribs, did up some Dutch Oven Potatoes, along with Apple and Berry Dutch
Oven Cobblers. We had around 50 -55 at our house and they played yard games and
visited. It was a nice evening. What a great group of young married students we
get to be among!
Nate got out in the great outdoors. He climbed in the Mt.
Rainer National Park and skied the Emmons Winthrop Glacier – skiing down 1,600
ft. from the summit. He definitely works for his thrills.
The Mallory crew honed their athletic skills by having all
the kids, except Mazin, take swimming lessons. Way to go guys, you’ll never
regret learning how to swim.
They also let the kids try out rock climbing.
Jaxson attended a week long basketball camp put on by the USU basketball players. He loves rubbing shoulders with the big men on USU's basketball team.
Langston did an online pre-school throughout this past school year and they had a graduation celebration party for all those that participated in it. He'll definitely be ready for Kindergarten.
Titan and Eloise took swimming lessons as well. Where they
live, it has a pool, so they’re playing it smart.
Andrew and Lindsay celebrated 8 years of marital bliss this
month! Congratulations
you love birds.
The Andrew Hansen family's new house is coming along ahead of
schedule. What an exciting time for them.
Andrew and Garrett went to St. George with some of his
buddies for a “Man Trip”. They did some biking on the slick rock and rode on some bike trails. They camped out in style because Jason (Danica’s husband) hooked them up
with some beds and a condo. It helps to know nice people.
Little Arwyn is walking all over the place now!! It’s hard to
believe she can do that because she is such a petite little gal.
The town of Smithfield put in a nice new splash pad so
Lindsay took the kids to check it out. It’s pretty neat and the kids had fun
cooling off.
Garrett got to present some awards to some of the Real
Estate Agents that he’s been working with. Having teamwork helps.
Garrett and Zandra had a visitor, Renu Singh, from India,
(where Garrett served his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), come and stay with them for
a few of days. They took her to Lagoon for one of the days and had some good
old All American fun.
It’s been pretty hot, so Jorie loved playing in the
sprinklers and swimming in their little pool to beat the heat. Zandra's had some fun with her too.
Luke’s walking all over the place now too! Jorie loves
playing with her brother even more now.
Danica and Jason know good entertainment. They hit up his
mom’s pool with friends to cool off on some of our hot days.
They went to the REAL soccer stadium and watched the USA
Women’s soccer team play in a game. WOW, that doesn’t happen very often to have
them play here in Utah. Pretty cool.
To change up their entertainment a bit, they also went to
hear Macklemore in concert. They know good music.
They joined up with Jason’s family to help celebrate his
grandma’s birthday, by going to the Young Living Aquarium. That was a treat for
everyone.
Finally, to show they know how to cook, they
invited some friends over and had a BBQ with them at their place. Good friends
and good company, what more can you ask for?
Time flies when you’re having fun, and another
month goes down in the books. Hence, Journaled June.
