October Overture

I love fall in Cache Valley! We have had a lot of color around us. We live in a beautiful area!

Our little girl, Danica, turned 20 this month! No more teenagers among us. She did get the bouquet of flowers we sent her. Happy Birthday Danica Dear!

We had the chance to get reacquainted with my nephew, Jonathon Lambert, and his cute family.

They stayed with us a night because of a cousins wedding here in Logan.

It just happened that the Mallory's were here at the same time! So we all went to First Dam and fed the ducks and then went to Willow Park with the kids. It was a nice fall day and the kids had fun.

We found out that Jaxson's soccer team ended up the champs in their age division. Pretty exciting! Jaxson is becoming quite the player from what we hear. Maybe having mom as the coach helps.

Nate is back in Oakland for the month, so they took some time and went to Yosemite and did a little camping and climbing. Kim is a good sport!

Andrew and Lindsay took a trip into Baltimore and saw the sights. They're trying to take advantage of their time in Virginia by checking the places out. It was their first trip with Eloise. She and Titan are becoming best friends.

Garrett and Zandra have endured rain and more rain and then having no power (other than spotty) for two weeks, but they found ways to make the most of their time in Ghana.
They started up an Intramural Program for the 5th & 6th graders at the school they help at. They introduced relay races (wheelbarrow and piggyback) and arm wrestling. The kids are really enjoying it. They also showed their Science class a few science experiments like how you can suck a hard boiled egg into a bottle. (It didn't work right, but the kids still liked it) They also helped the kids write letters about themselves and what they wanted to do in their life. One child wrote that he wanted to be a Dr. and get rid of all of the mosquitoes so that no one got sick. The kids needed quite a bit of help, but it showed they have a lot of drive as well as hope for their country.
Garrett and Zandra were even able to see a partial solar eclipse. They wore three pairs of sunglasses to look at it. I think they're enjoying the adventure, but I think they do miss home too. I know they miss the food! Hopefully they miss us as well.

Our ward had a Halloween party that Dale and I went to. We wore our outfits from India (nothing real exciting) but there were a lot of great costumes and it made me wish we would of gotten into the spirit of the holiday a bit more. We still had fun and from the pictures we got sent to us it looks like the kids & grandkids had a fun Halloween as well.

Titan was a dog, Eloise was a cat-----
Danica was a lumberjack, and the Mallory's were a family of Zombies!

We didn't have very many Trick-or-Treaters come around again this year. I was quite surprised with all of the new homes to the north of us. Oh well, more Cheetos, and Fruit Snacks for us to use for lunches or when the kids stop in.

Iowa Western Girls Soccer had a great season this year. They gained a #1 Ranking for awhile, then after a loss dropped to 3rd in their District, but ended up doing pretty good. They have a 17-2-0 overall record and 10-0-0 Conference record. Not bad, eh? They wore pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and had some road trips.

They also had Sophmore Night. This will be Danica's last season with IWCC. She'll have her Associates Degree in December.
The team will be heading to the Region XI/District K Tournament in Des Moines, IA next month. We wish them the best! Go Reivers! Go Danica!

That looks like a pretty good note to end our October Overture on I'd say.
